1. Rolex Sky-Dweller-
An elegant watch for world travellers, the Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller is a compelling timepiece of revolutionary design that blends to perfection technological sophistication and ease of use. A technological masterpiece protected by 11 patents, the Sky-Dweller provides, in an unprecedented and highly original way, the information global travellers need to easily keep track of time. It includes a dual time zone, with local time read via centre hands and a reference time display in a 24-hour format read via a rotating off-centre disc on the dial.
2. Rolex Sea-Dweller-
A technical divers’ watch, waterproof today to a depth of 1,220 metres (4,000 feet), the Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller was originally designed for the pioneers of professional deep-sea diving. It is equipped with one of the inventions that contributed to its stature: the helium escape valve, patented by Rolex in 1967. While preserving the waterproofness of the watch, this ingenious safety valve regulates the pressure accumulated in the case during the decompression phases of deep-water saturation dives.
3. Rolex Cosmograph Daytona-
Created by Rolex in 1963, the Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is a watch born to race. It has established an extraordinary track record in the world of motor sport thanks to its reliability and performance. Known simply as the “Daytona”, it has risen to the rank of an icon as one of the best known chronographs in the world. Rolex introduced three new versions of its Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona in 18 ct yellow, white or Everose gold. These versions are fitted on the innovative Oysterflex bracelet in elastomer reinforced with a metal blade, and are equipped with a monobloc Cerachrom bezel, patented by Rolex, in black ceramic.
4. TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 43mm
Unveiled in 2015, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 opened the doors to a new market. This year, the famous proprietary chronograph is being unveiled with a slightly smaller diameter of 43 mm, in a choice of three versions: intense black, deep navy blue and an elegant cognac brown. The brilliance of the polished ceramic tachymeter bezel echoes the polished, satin-finished steel of the iconic 12-part modular case. The skeleton dial – the trademark of the Heuer-01 – and the sapphire case-back reveal the beauty of the mechanism. The chronograph operating levers and the date disc are open-worked on the dial side.
5. Breitling Avenger Hurricane Military Breitlight-
With its black avant-garde case in Breitlight, its dial with aeronautical-type numerals and its selfwinding Manufacture Breitling caliber powering an exclusive 24-hour display, the new Avenger Hurricane Military limited series proudly displays the assets of an instrument for which prowess is the norm. On this new version of this superlative-charged chronograph, issued in a 1,000-piece limited edition, Breitling has equipped the black dial with luminescent hands and numerals featuring a slightly patinated yellow-beige color evoking the instruments produced by the brand from the 1940s to the 1960s – a nod to Breitling’s longstanding heritage in the aeronautical and military field.
6. Omega Planet Ocean ‘Big Blue’-
Determined to dive even deeper into the art of ceramic watchmaking, and inspired by the success of 2016's Planet Ocean "Deep Black", Omega set out to create a combination GMT and divers' watch fashioned from a single block of blue ceramic. The 45.5 mm watch sports a blue ceramic dial with an orange GMT track. Adding sparkle are hands and indexes in 18K white gold with a white Super-LumiNova coating. The Omega Planet Ocean which has a blue ceramic bezel features a diving scale with Liquidmetal numerals. A blend of orange rubber and ceramic covers the first 15 minutes.
7. Hublot Classic Fusion Italia Independent Collection-
Since 2014, two collections have been born from the partnership between Hublot, Italia Independent and Lapo Elkann. Although both of the previous collections were based on the legendary Big Bang Unico model, this time the magic of this wildly creative team was unleashed on the Classic Fusion model. The House of Rubinacci holds more than 60,000 square metres of precious houndstooth, tweeds and other cloths that Hublot and Lapo Elkann found a collection of tartans—squared coloured wool weaves from the seventies—that they brought back to life by including them in the Classic Fusion as a chronograph. The dial and straps have therefore been made using these precious fabrics to offer this range of 45 mm timekeepers an end result that is the epitome of elegance. “La vera sprezzatura!”
8. MB & F Aquapod-
For SIHH 2017, Geneva, Switzerland-based watchmaker MB & F debuts the Horological Machine No. 7 (HM7) Aquapod. The organic jellyfish-inspired design of HM7 Aquapod is counter-balanced by the very mechanical horology within: a central 60-second flying tourbillon tops the concentric vertical movement architecture, with indications radiating out from the centre like ripples in a pond. Like many jellyfish, HM7 glows in the dark: on the hour and minute numerals, around the inside of the movement and along the tentacle-like winding rotor.
