Last month was a bit special as we saw Hollywood heart-throb, Ryan Gosling sporting a vintage Rolex on his way to winning the Golden Globes for his performance in the musical, La La Land. This month Rolex put the icing on the cake by coming on board as the sponsor for the biggest cinematic event in the history of mankind, the 89th Academy Awards, also popularly known as the Oscars.
Rolex is celebrating the role its timepieces have played in cinematic storytelling by aligning with the 89th Academy Awards. For the second year in a row, the brand was the exclusive sponsor of the Oscars Greenroom at the Dolby Theatre on February 26, decorating the ceremony’s lounge where VIPs can gather backstage. Celebrating its role in this year’s event, Rolex has teamed with filmmaker James Cameron to share his own story centred on a significant watch.

Rolex is a major supporter in the arena of sports and arts, having established its reputation by having on board outstanding ambassadors. The luxury watch manufacturer is involved in programs such as the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative too, which is a philanthropic program set up in 2002 that aligns young filmmakers with mentors.
