Let\u2019s take a deep breath because you\u2019ll need it. This timepiece is no joke. The timepiece is special for many reasons but let\u2019s just say that it simply breaks all the archetypes for luxury watches ever created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like all other F.P. Journe<\/a> watches, this one too was not created in large quantities so acquiring one can be a hefty task. However, do not be disheartened. Just have the will to find it. That being said, let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s get back to the timepiece.<\/p>\n\n\n

The F.P. Journe Chronograph Monopoussoir Rattrapante is a watch that was made to create a statement. The 44 mm wide and 12.1 mm thick watch is made of platinum top to bottom. The bracelet too, is built out of 100 per cent platinum. The bracelet has black spacers for the sake of maintaining structural integrity and reducing wear and tear over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is clearly a timepiece that makes a statement, and a bold one too. Made from solid platinum and at 44 mm case width, the watch commands respect. Objectively speaking, this timepiece is a big and heavy item. It makes its presence felt through uncompromised quality and sheer elegance. The bezel is slim and the lines on the case are sharp. Everything about this chronograph reminds you of a well-built super car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The world of luxury watches is complicated. There are various watches that are the show stoppers of their respective fields and for their respective brands. Take the Seamaster from Omega<\/a>, or the Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet. These watches are mega stars. The IWC Portugieser is a similar watch. It is a foundational timepiece for the International Watch Company<\/a>. The watch has a unique sense of style, identity, and uniformity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the January of 2020, IWC<\/a> announced the release of the new Portugieser Chronograph. The watch was not much different from its predecessor except that it had a new heart at its core. IWC attempted to keep up with recent trends and introduced a column wheel, vertical clutch chronograph movement to its flagship watch.<\/p>\n\n\n

The 41 mm wide stainless steel case is as elegant as ever. But once again, the emphasis is on the brand new calibre 69355. However, that doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t stop us from admiring the beauty of this timeless reference. The watch essentially fulfills two purposes. Firstly, it acts a perfect sports chronograph with its sporty elegance, clean lines, and sleek design. Secondly, it also acts a great \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcstately\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 dress watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last but not least, the case size is much more than meets the eye. Simply stating that the watch is 41 mm in diameter does not do justice. You see, the watch basically has no bezel of any kind so when you wear it, it looks much bigger than your typical 41 mm timepiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Lange & S\u00c3\u00b6hne Triple Split<\/h2>\n\n\n

It was not long ago that the Glashutte based watch manufacturer A. Lange & Sohne birthed the first mechanical split-seconds chronograph in the whole world that was capable of measuring time up to 30 minutes. This was back in the year 2004. This feat was made possible via a rattrapante hand. Now, for those who do not know, the word \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcrattrapante\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 originates from the French term \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcrattraper\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. It means to catch up or to recover, as in the action of rattrapante hand in the watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, A. Lange & Sohne took things even higher and created the Triple Split watch that was the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first ever chronograph mechanism that allowed measurements of multi-hour comparative time. This was also equipped with a precise jumping minute counter as well as a triple-flyback mechanism. Long story short, it was a pretty complication heavy timepiece.<\/p>\n\n\n

So basically, by offering split hands for all three registers, that is, hours, minutes, and seconds, the Triple Split from A. Lange & S\u00c3\u00b6hne<\/a> is capable of measuring comparative from any point ranging between one-sixth of a second to twelve hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
