Wrist Diaries is infectiously addicted to fine watches. We’re always looking for an opportunity to talk about timepieces– whether made by renowned Swiss Brands who’ve been in the industry for decades and even centuries in some cases, or made by passionate independent watchmakers. It’s our passion, devotion and enthusiasm that makes our horological heart tick faster.
As a brand, Hublot is a pretty popular one. The watchmaker has dedicated its entirety to spread the art of fusion in the form of exquisite watches. The Big Bang collection is the reason why the name Hublot resonates with innovation and pioneering today. The watch came to be in existence in 2005 and was the brain-child of the brand’s former CEO Jean-Claude Biver. The entire range of watches uses an unusual mix of materials that made it truly unique in every sense.
The present-day Big Bang collection in the watchmaker’s catalogue was launched in 2015 at the Baselworld. The Hublot watches we see today are better versions of the Big Bang of yester-years. The timepiece family consists of watches like the Unico, Unico GMT, Unico Perpetual Calendar, Meca-10, Ferrari, and of course, the good old self-winding Big Bang. The timepieces are fairly unisex which opens up a wide pathway for the watch to be worn by everyone regardless of their gender. The Unico movement comes out at the top with specialized silicon components which provide the watches with a power reserve of up to 72 hours, a prolonged life, and a better overall performance.
