ABOUT Panerai WATCHES

Panerai Radiomir Quaranta - Model No. PAM01292

Founded in Florence in 1860 as a workshop, shop and school of watchmaking by Giovanni Panerai, for many decades Panerai supplied the Italian Navy in general, and its specialist diving corps in particular, with precision instruments. In 1956 the brand developed a diving watch by the name GPF-2/56, which was later popularly called the "Egyptian" as it was supplied to the Egyptian Navy with the consent of the Italian Navy. Just over sixty models were made, entirely assembled in Florence by the master watchmaker Linder. Today, the brand develops and crafts its movements and watches using a perfect melding of Italian design flair with Swiss Horological expertise. Being the purveyor of excellent craftsmanship, Panerai makes watches that seamlessly blend aesthetics and functionality.

Panerai watches are entirely distinct in their designs; in that they are uncluttered, practical as well as handsome. The uncomplicated legibility of a Panerai watch made them the official timepiece of the Italian Navy. Most of the brand’s timepieces feature an iconic square shape, large crown guards, and a one-of-a-kind construction.

Available for civilians only in 1993, Panerai’s watches are celebrated in the modern era for functional purity, historical design inspiration, and unpaid appearances and can be seen on the wrists of major sporting, political, and entertainment personalities including Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The brand truly knows how to encompass classical aesthetics and this can be clearly seen in all its watches.

Panerai Luminor

The Panerai Luminor was first launched in the early 1950s as a replacement for the Radiomir. Once it was discovered that the Radiomir compound was radioactive, it was the need of the hour for Panerai to offer an alternative to the legendary tool watch. Luminor stands out due to its unique cushion-like structure that it took from its predecessor and its massive crown guard. The original 47 mm reference can be seen in the present-day brand catalogue in the form of the Luminor 1950 series.

Panerai Submersible

The Submersible was originally launched under the Luminor collection but was later made into a separate collection in itself. The watches in this collection are bold, solid, and absolutely unapologetic about their brilliance. These are essentially professional divers’ watches that exhibit modern up to date features and exude a vintage vibe at the same time. The collection is a great way to reinterpret the glorious past of the Italian horologist with finesse and function.

Panerai Radiomir

The Radiomir is what started it all for the Italian origin master watchmaker. Panerai was never a watchmaker in the first place and its journey in the time crafting business was never on the table. However, upon a request from the Royal Italian Navy, the dive equipment manufacturer produced the Radiomir prototype in 1936. This was merely the beginning of what would eventually turn out to be a hell of ride for Panerai. The Radiomir of today is a classy, elegant, and robust timepiece that perfectly captures the essence of the watchmaker.
