The Radiomir and the Luminor are the only two models that the brand still produces (in addition to other smaller models). 2017 is going to see the newest iteration of the iconic Radiomir- the new Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio. The two Special Editions from Panerai is going to replicate the iconic DNA of the vintages, respecting their identity and giving collectors the opportunity to appreciate a fascinating chapter in the Panerai story.
The two models will debut at the upcoming SIHH in Geneva starting January 16. One offers a black dial and the other features a shaded brown dial that pays direct tribute to the vintage. Another detail that emphasises the vintage design is the twelve-sided bezel in brushed steel with smoothed, polished angles and the same engraving and lettering as the historic models. The bezel is screwed onto the Radiomir cushion case-band and, together with the screwed back, forms the rear part of the case. Also echoing the vintage design, these new pieces are made of three case parts, each clearly visible when looking at the case in profile.
Each of the Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio cases is engraved with the words “Officine Panerai-Brevettato,†which refers to the luminous substance used on the dials. Each piece has a hand-wound, Panerai P.3000 mechanical movement visible through a clear sapphire crystal. The dial is available in black (PAM00685), the colour of the vintage model, or in shaded brown (PAM00687), a completely new colour for Panerai that is meant to arouse the lightening effect the Radiomir (the luminous substance based on radium) had on the original black dials. Both the new Panerai Radiomir 3 Days Acciaio models are water resistant to a depth of about 30 meters.
