The Phillips auction event has become quite the spectacle in recent times. Be it the Paul Newman Rolex Daytona or Steve McQueen’s Heuer Monaco chronograph, the auction is always lit up with quite the star power. Well, this time around a certain Hollywood action hero has decided to auction his watches and once he is done, he’s going to tell ‘Adrian’ that he did it. If you could not guess who I am talking about, you need some serious movie education. It’s Sylvester Stallone and he is not here to play.
Phillips has announced that the auction taking place will include Panerai as well as Richard Mille timepieces. The popular and beloved oversized watch aficionado Sylvester Stallone will be donating to a charity initiative by the co-founder of Cirque du Soleil, Guy Laliberté.
Watches Straight Outta Sylvester Stallone’s Closet
Rocky and Rambo star Sylvestor Stallone is arguably the most recognizable face in the history of Hollywood. He is only among the three actors in the history of Academy awards to receive nominations for acting as well as screen writing. Stallone’s love and passion for art and creativity knows no limits.
Of course, Panerai’s huge global appeal owes its fair share to Sylvester Stallone. The actor famously and his fandom of Panerai earned the brand a great deal of exposure. Back in 1994, he single-handedly helped boost the brand’s celebrity appeal. For instance, in 1996, Stallone presented his friend and fellow actor Arnold Schwarzenegger with a gold Luminor. Which reminds me, the Panerai Luminor that he wore in the 1996 flick ‘Daylight’ is also one of the watches that are being auctioned.
Sylvester Stallone is a huge admirer of Richard Mille as well. In fact, in 1028, the actor collaborated with the watchmaker to create somewhat of a ‘survival watch’.
Without any further ado, let’s just dive straight into the good stuff.
