Patek Phillipe dropped a brand watch announcement on 12 April 2021. This is the new two-reference Calatrava collection touted as the “Clous de Paris”. The references, 6119R and 6119G, rose gold and white gold, respectively, are as classic and elegant as any Patek Phillipe watch can get. These watches are also unique because they come with the new 30-255 PS movement, a mechanism that is supposed to be the successor of the long-running 215 PS hand-wound caliber.
Patek Phillipe Calatrava “Clous De Paris” Ref. 6119
With applied markers and the conventional hobnail bezel, this is the quintessential vintage Patek Phillipe, just better.
First Impressions

Both the new references from Patek Phillipe are 39 mm in diameter and 8.08 mm in thickness. Both the timepieces have sapphire crystal case backs. Leather straps along with pin buckles, and have a water resistance of about 30 meters. Additionally, both the watches are available in a time-only format including a small seconds display.

The rose-gold reference, that is, 6119R has a silver-grained dial with applied rose-gold “obus” hour markers as well as hands. On the contrary, the white gold reference, that is, 6119G has a grey-black coloured dial complemented by a vertical brushed finish. On the sub-dial, however, users can see a snailed finishing.
The New Movement
Patek Phillipe’s new Caliber 30-255 PS definitely stole the show here. The mechanism is supposed to be a successor of sorts to the 215 PS. This is to better suit the modern cases. On one hand, where the 215 PS measures 21.9 mm in width, the new 30-255 stands at 31 mm in diameter. Both the movements, however, maintain a thickness of just 2.55 mm. What’s more impressive is that Patek Phillipe has managed to fit in a pair of mainspring barrels in the new mechanism resulting in a power reserve of more than 65 hours as compared ton the 44 hours preciously offered by the 215 PS.
The hand-wound movement is gorgeously well proportioned and fine-tuned. The 30-255 carries with it the Patek Philippe seal and thus guarantees a -2/+3 seconds per day precision.
