Pop culture has always had a major influence on the world. Every era, every generation, and every age group has some form of relation to pop culture and mainstream media. Well, that being said, how far can luxury watches be? Omega watches, for instance, have been part of the movie culture for a long time now. Their allegiance to the Bond films has brought us immense joy and excitement over the years. As far as James Bond is concerned, he is definitely the world’s most charming and debonair intelligence agent. What he also has, besides training in close-quarter combat and weapons technology, is an impeccable taste in watches. No wonder he chooses to go with an Omega.
The latest James Bond watch from Omega has hit the tabloids and the internet, and we could not have been more excited. The watch is a spectacle and a sight to behold. It will be featured in the upcoming 007 flick, ‘No Time to Die’. The timepiece, Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition is making rounds around the industry already and people cannot wait to see their favourite British secret agent in action with the watch on his wrist again.
The New James Bond 2020 Watch from Omega
Here are a few things that we know about the Omega timepiece.
An ‘Unlimited’ Watch
The timepiece is set to be kept as a non-limited edition watch. What usually happens is that such watches are launched as limited editions which eventually leads to a shortage in the markets. But the 2019 Seamaster 300M is set out to be present in the regular catalogue.
A Descendant Of The Original Seamaster 300
The previous timepiece in this series was the much talked about Omega Seamaster 300 ‘Spectre’. The timepiece had a neo-vintage design that focused on adding a bit of modern flair to the overall facade. On the contrary, the latest Seamaster takes inspiration directly from the 1993 release original Seamaster 300. The watch is a special addition to the Omega arsenal because it also celebrates the long-running relationship with the Bond franchise.
It is also obvious that this long term partnership has been a boon for Omega. The amount of publicity and revenue that the Swiss watchmaker generates via this allegiance is just off the charts. The Bond movies also have a massive cultural influence and that surely helps Omega in its endeavours.
State Of The Art
The new Seamaster 300M has a 42 mm titanium case along with a brown aluminium bezel that the brand is referring to as the ‘tropical’ bezel. The watch has crown guards to protect the screw-in crown. The timepiece also puts on display an impressive helium valve positioned at 10 o’clock.
A quick fun fact. Helium valves, contrary to what people believe, do not come into play while the watch is underwater. They come handy when the diver is out of the water after a deep dive and the watch needs to adjust to the pressure outside. Otherwise, the timepiece will simply explode due to the build-up it experienced underwater.
The funny thing is that Omega has been trying different things with the Seamaster and it is always the same thing that clicks with watch enthusiasts. It is the original essence of the Seamaster that makes people fall in love with it all over again. The stoic masculinity, the rustic finesse, and the signature Omega tool watch DNA is what draws in the people.
