Kapoor Watch Co. brings Piaget to North India with a three-day watch weekend in the capital city
Some watches are made to keep time. Others are made to make a statement. Piaget has spent decades proving that the two are not mutually exclusive. The Swiss maison known for its distinctive blend of haute horlogerie with high jewellery is now making its way to North India, as Kapoor Watch Co. brings the world of Piaget to its reimagined flagship in Delhi’s South Extension. Founded in 1874 in La Cote aux Fees, Switzerland, Piaget began as a manufacturer of pocket watch movements before evolving into a brand known for its ultra-thin calibres, ornamental stone dials and one-of-a-kind gem set creations. Pairing technical sophistication with a playful approach to colour, form and embellishment, their pieces move between sleek minimalism and unapologetic glamour. Over the years, the brand’s philosophy of ‘do what has never been done before,’ has led it to produce timepieces that are as much about aesthetics as they are about precision.
The Lineup
At the South Ex flagship, the brand’s DNA of extravagant elegance is on display through five signature collections now available to Indian collectors. The Altiplano, a masterclass in minimalism and technical wizardry is one of the first collections launched by the brand. Named after the high plateau of the Andes, it features slender cases and clean dials, along with record breaking ultra-thin movements, setting a new benchmark in fine watchmaking. The Limelight Gala, born in the early 1970s, is modern luxury at its finest. With asymmetrical cases, Milanese mesh bracelets and diamond set bezels, it is refined yet indulgent and has been spotted globally on a slew of celebrities at red carpet events and galas alike.
The Piaget Polo is the ultimate symbol of sporty chic. First introduced in 1979, it marries a cushion shaped dial with a round case accented by signature gadroon grooves and bold dial colours, making it effortless, athletic luxury for every day. The maison’s Possession watches are an extension of their namesake jewellery line. Featuring a collection of cocktail watches with rotating rings, it’s playful and tactile yet sophisticated and elegant. And then there is the Sixtie collection which is inspired by the glamour of the 1960s. A celebration of free spirited femininity, it plays with trapeze, square and cushion shaped dials in bold vibrant hues.
The Launch
To mark Piaget’s arrival, Kapoor Watch Co. hosted an evening with the maison as part of Hours and Icons, its three-day watch weekend celebrating the unveiling of its reimagined South Extension flagship. The occasion brought together collectors, watch enthusiasts and the city’s sartorially savvy, with actor and friend of the brand Ananya Panday in attendance to mark the milestone. The evening also offered a glimpse of Piaget’s high jewellery universe — pieces studded with diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies and doubling up as wearable works of art. Beyond their iconic engraving techniques and rare gemstone settings, the jewellery showcases the maison’s 150 years of heritage and impeccable craftsmanship; a real treat for the brand’s most discerning collectors in the country.
