Born From the Age of Flight
Long before the Air-King entered the Rolex family in 1958, Rolex Oyster watches were already in the cockpit. During the 1930s, British pilots including Owen Cathcart-Jones, Arthur Clouston, Anthony Ricketts and Alex Henshaw set speed, endurance and long-distance records while wearing Rolex Oysters. Their watches faced the same cold, aircraft vibrations, and physical demands that came with early long-distance aviation.
In 1933, the Houston expedition carried Rolex’s excellence to new heights. Equipped with Rolex Oyster watches, its aviators completed the first flight over Mount Everest, reaching an altitude of 9,000 metres. The Air King embodies this very spirit. Its black dial pairs large pilot-style Arabic indexes with a prominent minutes scale – a blueprint deeply rooted in aviation and designed for immediate navigational time readings. Sporting a distinct triangle marker at 12 and a combination of large 3, 6, and 9 numerals that mark hours, the remaining indexes translate minutes. Since 2022, the model has also carried crown guards and calibre 3230 with Rolex’s patented Chronergy escapement, promising an extended power reserve of 70 hours.
The Land-Dweller Takes New Ground
Introduced in 2025, the Land-Dweller ushers in Rolex’s newly developed calibre 7135, an Oyster case and the flat Jubilee bracelet, which harmoniously flows directly into the case. The watch is offered in 36 and 40-millimetre sizes and is waterproof to 100 metres. Its honeycomb dial and fluted bezel give the collection a distinct visual identity, while the transparent caseback showcases the Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges.
Calibre 7135 operates at a high frequency of 5Hz and 36,000 beats per hour and incorporates a new Dynapulse escapement. Comprising silicon components primarily, it boasts an innovative architecture while being lightweight and virtually insensitive to magnetic fields. The Land-Dweller perfectly embodies Rolex’s spirit of urban and terrestrial exploration, designed for those who build tomorrow’s world today and boldly charter new achievements.

Opening New Horizons
On the Air-King, the 40-millimetre Oyster case is waterproof to 100 metres. A sapphire crystal protects the dial. The Twinlock crown uses a double waterproofness system, while crown guards provide protection against shocks. Oystersteel, part of the 904L steel family, offers high corrosion resistance.
Inside, calibre 3230 uses a blue Parachrom hairspring resistant to shocks and strong magnetic fields, Paraflex shock absorbers and a Chronergy escapement virtually insensitive to magnetic interference. Chromalight keeps the dial legible in darkness.
The Land-Dweller applies that same Rolex discipline to a new generation. Its 100-metre waterproofness, high-frequency calibre, magnetic-resistant ceramic balance staff, and integrated construction show that toughness does not need to look utilitarian. The Air-King commands the skies by carrying forward the memory of aviation’s pioneers. The Land-Dweller commands the land by placing Rolex’s newest ideas firmly on the wrists of humankind’s boldest.
