Green watches aren’t everyone’s cupcake, that is for sure. But they do pose an interesting question, which is, “Would you wear one?” Green watches have been on the rise recently and there is honestly nothing wrong with it. TAG Heuer, as many would know, is not a brand that fools around and every watch it launches deserves a look.
The all-new TAG Heuer Carrera Green Special Edition is simply too eye-catching. The vintage-inspired timepiece is a limited edition creation paying homage to the Swiss watchmaker’s chronograph-making history. As a matter of fact, this release comes after a TAG Heuer released another green-dialed timepiece, the Monaco Green in the celebration of Gran Prix De Monaco Historique.
The All-New TAG Heuer
The new timepiece pays a direct tribute to an old Heuer reference 2447. It shares most of its aesthetics including the impressive domed sapphire crystal. TAG Heuer did an amazing job by adding finesse to the vintage effect in this timepiece. The watch has faux patina on the lume plots as well as the hands. The lume plots are also applied above each of the equally retro-evocative indexes.
Fun fact, there is no vintage green dial Heuer Carrera. This is the reason, this watch feels very new despite the teal hue feeling very mid-century. It actually looks like the kind of timepiece that might be sitting in the basement collecting dust.
The TAG Heuer Carrera has vast history and there is no denying it. TAGF Heuer’s massive heritage in the world of mechanical watches gives it the right platform to work on. This particular timepiece gives it the perfect podium to present a not so vintage, vintage watch. Unlike many of the recent luxury watches, the TAG Heuer Carrera Green Special Edition feels intentional and thoughtful. There has simply been a lot of thinking and planning behind the timepiece and it clearly shows.
The watch is powered by the TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 02. This is an automatic in-house manufactured mechanism visible through a see-through case back. This This is a column-wheel, vertical-clutch chronograph movement offers a power reserve of about 80 hours. For the sake of aesthetics, the rotor is blacked out on the back.
Last but not least, the reference is limited to just 500 pieces. The watch comes fitted with a black leather strap.
