The partnership between Hublot and Sang Bleu is one for the history books. Never before has there ever been such a collaboration between a creative design studio and a luxury watch manufacturer. The studio is owned and operated by Swiss tattoo artist Maxime Plescia-Büchi. This partnership is now in its seventh year and to mark this milestone of an occasion the two have teamed up on a trio of highly scratch-resistant Hublot Unico Big Bang Sang Bleu II watches.
New Hublot Big Bang Unico Sang Bleu II
The first luxury timepiece comes in Magic Gold. The material is tougher than it sounds like. Gold is a highly malleable metal and is prone to scratches. Hublot, however, mixes that with ceramic to make Magic Gold, an 18-karat gold alloy made right inside the house of the Swiss watchmaker.
The second luxury watch for men comes in a stylish green ceramic body.
Finally, the third new Hublot watch is offered in black ceramic.
Each of these watches is a chronograph fuelled up by Hublot’s very own Unico mechanism. Needless to say, these are a limited edition. Magic Gold (100 pieces), green ceramic (200 pieces), and Black Magic ceramic (250 pieces).
Honest Opinion
When a watchmaker like Hublot approached an artist, it says a lot about the mindset and vision of that watchmaker. Hublot is a prestigious horologist but at the same time, it does not carry the burdens of age-old heritage and multi-generational design codes that are more rigid than seasoned leather. The artist that designed these watches is none other than Maxime Plescia-Büchi. He is a graduate from the iconic École cantonale d’art de Lausanne and his style is instantly identifiable which grants his work a sense of uniqueness. He is also known for having tattooed Kanye West.
The indelibility of any tattoo is its core quality. This connection between the watch’s design and the watch itself is as immutable as the materials used to make the watch. These are luxury watches for men and women intended to look this way and to stand the test of time itself.
