One name, one brand, one watchmaker that has been dominating the luxury watchmaking realm and making a name for it in the process is Bvlgari. The horologist is a bold icon among haut de gamme watch manufacturers and the LVMH Watch Week 2020 was evidence of that. The Haute Horlogerie extravaganza was organized by LVMH, the globally renowned French multinational luxury products conglomerate. Bvlgari was amongst the four brands that hosted the event, the others being Hublot, Tag Heuer, and Zenith. The Italian luxury brand had some really exciting references up its sleeves and we were not disappointed.
The Divas’ Dream
The Divas’ Dream seems like exactly like a timepiece that a diva would dream about. The watch brings the brand’s motto of being the “Jeweler of Time” to a literal sense. The collection received three new additions and they are all fantastic, to say the least.
The Finissima Minute Repeater
The watch was originally released in 2018 and was immediately awarded the title of the thinnest ladies’ minute repeater. This is the third iteration of the watch that has been launched by Bvlgari. The latest edition features a malachite dial, as opposed to the earlier Urushi lacquer and aventurine dials.
The sleek minute repeater still makes use of the Swiss-made manually wound BVL 362. The movement is only 3.12 mm in thickness and that eventually helps the timepiece to keep its case thickness limited to 9.4 mm.
The 37 mm case is made of white gold and has a jubilant diamond pave set on top to finish things off in style. The complementing green leather strap is a fine addition to the already impressive package.
The Peacock
The Divas’ Dream Peacock is second in line on this list. The timepiece, as the name suggests, brings the vibrant colours of a Peacock’s feathers on its dial. The Bvlgari watch uses the automatic calibre BVL19 that displays the hours, minutes and seconds. The bezel and the lugs of the watch feature a streak of brilliant-cut diamonds and a neatly placed cabochon-cut pink Tourmaline on the crown.
The Lapis Lazuli
The third addition to the Divas’ Dream collection this year stays true to form and uses the signature Divas’ Dream design language. Bvlgari used the famous Lapis Lazuli, a metamorphic rock that is found in Northeastern Afghanistan for the dial. This rock, whose name literally translates into “Stone of Blue” has been used in jewellery making since prehistoric times. The case of the watch is made of 18-carat rose gold, while the bezel and lugs flaunt a similar array of brilliant-cut diamonds as seen in the above two references. Last but not least, the blue leather strap that comes along with the watch surely is a nice touch.
Bvlgari has truly outdone itself this year by introducing such grand collection timepieces. The Divas’ Dream beautifully captures the essence of the watchmaker and definitely makes for a sight to behold.
