Watches and Wonders is doing a lot of great things all at once. The international even is providing a platform that is allowing brands to not only present much-awaited and latest releases but also overcome the pressing issue of the ongoing pandemic.
Glittery and glamorous exhibitions have been replaced by digital screenings and live streams. Hovering journalists have been replaced by bloggers. Last but not least, what used to be accessible to a very limited portion of people has now been made available to a wider spectrum of watch enthusiasts.
Watches and Wonders 2021 – New Releases
The following are the most tantalizing watch releases so far. There are, however, more to come.
Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar

In the recent times, the Octo Finissimo has become a massive symbol of horological brilliance. Over the years, the Octo Finissimo has introduced the world to some of the most technologically impressive watches. Starting from the world’s thinnest minute repeater, chronograph to tourbillon, Bvlgari has done it all. This time, however, it has a new watch up its sleeve, the world’s thinnest perpetual calendar.
The Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar stands at just 5.80 mm in thickness with its 408 components and 2.75 mm wide automatic movement. The new timepiece will be made available in the classic titanium version and the platinum version.
Cartier ‘Cloche de Cartier’

Watches & Wonders yet again surprised us with the release of the good ol’ cloche. For those who do not know, a cloche is actually a bell. So, Cartier’s “Cloche de Cartier†naturally depicts a case that is bell-shaped. The Cartier Cloche de Cartier reimagines a classical vintage Cartier timepiece from the 1920s. this new watch has the same silhouette, the style quotient, and the same aura.
The timepiece is launched as part of the Cartier Privé collection. It is the latest in a series of iconic montres de forme, or shape watches. These watches have been reintroduced by the brand as an attempt to bring back older designs and re-introduce them as modern classics.
The new Cloche is very intriguing, actually. The way it can be used in different contexts is truly amazing. Given its shape, it can be used just about perfectly as a desktop clock. Given the atypical numerals on its dial, it can also be used as a driving watch. See? Versatility at its best.
Panerai Luminor Marina eSteel

The Luminor is already a huge icon in the watch industry with numerous references already available. That being said, not to anyone’s surprise, Panerai has once again pulled off a shocker. At Watches & Wonders 2021, the luxury watchmaker has introduced the Luminor eSteel. The watch is made of a recycled material. This says a lot of things about a brand that is operating at a global level. Most importantly, it emphasizes the brand’s commitment towards reducing its need for virgin material.
The watchmaker ensured that the new material had the same sturdiness and toughness when compared to stainless steel. Features such as corrosion resistance, tough physical attributes, and chemical behavior have been successfully retained.
Breitling Premier Heritage Collection

This one is special. The all-new range of Breitling’s Premier Heritage Collection was released during the Watches & Wonder 2021 event. The collection pay tribute to the legendary trio of the watch brand. These people are Léon Breitling, Gaston Breitling, and Willy Breitling.
Leon laid the foundations of the company in 1884. Following his lead, his son, Gaston, invented the first wrist-worn chronograph with an independent pusher at the 2 o’clock position. Léon’s grandson, Willy, solidified the brand’s legacy in chronograph manufacturing by patenting the second independent chronograph pusher at the 4 o’clock position. Quite a family legacy, I must say.
Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire

Hublot has never ceased to amaze watch enthusiasts with its beautiful approach of making excellent timepieces and it has no intention to stop. The brand used the Watches & Wonders 2021 platform to introduce its new step towards innovating the ‘Art of Fusion’. The new custom-made sapphire case and the new integrated bracelet is just mind blowing.
beating at its core is the all in-house manufactured automatic movement, the HUB6035. The clear sapphire case lets the user see the automatic caliber in action.
IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43

Aviation watches have always been a huge fascination among watch collectors. Keeping that in mind, IWC introduced the brand-new Big Pilot’s Watch 43. You guessed it. It is a 43 mm wide watch made out of stainless steel. the iconic design language of the Big Pilot’s Watch has been retained and so is the timepiece’s renowned wearability and ergonomics. The watch has a clear and minimalist dial display with no power reserve or date display.
At the heart of the watch, lies the IWC in-house manufactured 82100 calibre. The automatic mechanism uses a winding system created by none other than Albert Pellaton. It uses the rotor’s smallest movements to wind the mainspring regardless of the direction. The components of the movement are made of zirconium oxide (ceramic). With a power reserve of about 60 hours, the timepiece packs a powerful punch.
Apart from that, the case of the watch has also been worked on. This clearly reflects on the Big Pilot Watch’s enhanced 10 bar water resistance. Last but not least, the brand has also introduced its new ‘EasX-CHANGE’ system, an innovation that will allow users to easily change the strap of the timepiece.
TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300

TAG Heuer has released its brand new Aquaracer at the 2021 edition of Watches & Wonders. The new generation timepiece is ecstatic, striking, and extremely aesthetic. Equipped with a 12-faceted bezel, recognizable design, and its uber contemporary approach, the watch successfully takes you on a roller coaster ride between a legacy of over 40 years and a bright and uncharted future that lies ahead.
Be it the thinner/lighter case, the upgraded sapphire crystal, or the re-engineered rotating bezel, everything about the watch screams brilliance. Oh, and d not forget the 300 meters of impressive water resistance. That ought to cheer you up.
