Every year, a Swiss city, which goes by the name of Basel, gets converted into an epicentre of time, for one whole week. Baselworld is perpetually the most important event on the global watch-fair calendar. Some of the timepieces making debuts are closely guarded secrets, innovations that are seeing the light of day after years, materials that have made it to cases straight from combustion chambers, and a host of other trinkets that are sure enough to turn the event into a spectacular success as always.
What exemplifies Baselworld is its unique ability to regroup the biggest and most prestigious watch and jewellery brands in the world, emerging design talent, the finest retailers and the global press. The event welcomes nearly 2000 exhibitors from 45 different countries, and 95,000 attendees from every corner of the globe. As this year’s Press Release from Baselworld states, “Building on the show’s success and to meet the increased demand for and by independent watchmaking brands, Baselworld has developed a new space concept for the most successful independent watchmakers. Visitors will find the new area, called ‘Les Ateliers’…with more independent watchmaking brands than everâ€.
One of the strong highlights of the show, apart from the presence of the usual heavyweights, would be independent watchmaking houses. We welcome one of the most passionately discussed events in the world of watches. Stay tuned to Wrist Diaries as we keep you updated to Baselworld 2017.
