This year, at Watches and Wonders 2022, Cartier is offering up an all-black dial, stainless steel Tank Must in two sizes, large and small, both at 6.66 mm thickness. The dial is unfussy and clear-cut with no Roman numeral on the dial. “Cartier” and “Swiss Made” are the only text on the dial.
The NEW Black Dial Cartier Tank Must
For those who do not know, The Tank Must collection was developed in the 1970s to attract a wider audience with the help of more accessible pricing. These watches brought Cartier to the masses by dressing up a quartz mechanism in a case inspired by the original Tank Louis Cartier. Needless to say, both the large as well as small versions of the Black Dial Tank Must house a quartz movement.
Into The Details
The new Cartier Tank Must watch is available in case sizes large and small. The watches are equipped with sapphire crystal, a Quartz movement, and a stainless steel case with a crown set with a blue synthetic spinel cabochon. The dial is lacquered while the leather straps are black.
Honest Opinion
The Cartier Tank is a timepiece with a heritage that spans generations and continents. Calling the watch legendary would be a gross understatement. What Cartier is trying to do is that it wants one of its most popular and loved timepieces to be more accessible, and at the same time make it more stylish. The launch of the black dial Tank Must is honestly a brilliant idea and whoever came up with it needs a raise.
