The most famous mecca of motor-racing, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is a hallowed gathering of adrenaline. Last year, at the 74th Goodwood Members Meet, IWC showcased its new Ingenieur Collection. In keeping with tradition, the 75th Goodwood Members Meet, saw IWC launching its latest Ingenieur Collection.
The history behind the IWC Ingenieur is as fascinating as it is technologically evolutionary. To overcome the interference of magnetic waves (which were being emitted by household item like radio, microwave) which were interfering with the accuracy of mechanical watches, IWC engineers added an iron cage to the calibre of their watches. Â It was also the first to use a self-winding system developed by Albert Pellaton, IWC’s Technical Director at the time.
The new 2017 Ingenieur Collection showcases four watches: Ingenieur Automatic 40, Ingenieur Chronograph, Ingenieur Chronograph Sport and Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month. Two of the models, the Chronograph Sport and the Perpetual Calendar are limited edition pieces. All the four models are inspired by vintage design elements and beautifully encapsulate the legacy and history of not only the Ingenieur collection, but also the IWC watch brand.
