Hublot has finally released a square watch! It took them some time, almost 20 years, but they finally did it. Would you like a square-shape Hublot? Well, whether you like it or not is subjective. What we will be focussing on is the boldness that Hublot has been dangling in everyone’s face with its decisions, i.e., taking a risk by switching from its signature design codes and trying to do something new. Presenting the new Hublot Square Bang.
The New Hublot Square Bang: A Hublot Timepiece with Edges

While being square in shape, the case is modular in construction. The watch has a central housing fitted with upper and lower plates. This shape originally caused issues with the watch’s water resistance, something that usually happens when a watch tries to break conventions. However, Hublot watches overcame this challenge and claims the watch to be water resistant till 100 meters.
Similar to the modular design of the watch case, the Square Bang’s dial features a sandwich effect. Hublot opted to use sapphire to show off the inner workings of the dial and the brand’s Unico movement. There are six functional screws on the bezel, placed identically to those on the Big Bang. On both sides of the Square Bang are ears from the Big Bang’s case.
Getting Into The Details

Getting into the nitty-gritties of the new Hublot Square Bang will be an exciting chore. The watches come in a 42 mm wide and 14.5 mm thick case made of titanium Ceramic, Titanium, King Gold, Ceramic, and King Gold. The titanium and King Gold watches are satin finished. The skeleton dials are emblematic of the Swiss watchmaker’s approach to its craft which, by now, should be pretty clear to anyone who has been following Hublot’s movement in the recent years. The new line of Hublot Square Bangs offers a 100-meter water resistance as well.
The movement is an interesting story as well. The HUB1280 Unico Manufacture does an excellent job in providing the efficiency and finesse that these watches deserve. Offering hours, minutes, and seconds are neat but the movement reaches its peak with the chronograph feature.
With a 72-hour power reserve and a 4 Hz frequency, the watches really hold up Hublot’s reputation as the pioneer and undisputed king of avant-garde luxury timepieces.
