The 72-year old Jean-Claude Biver is getting ready for another innings in the luxury watch business. Biver stepped down as the President of LVMH’s Watch Division in the year 2018. However, since his retirement, it has been relatively quiet for him. The last time we saw the watch industry mogul was in 2020 when the icon received France’s Legion Of Honor. He was seen again at the Phillips Geneva Watch Auction where he sold four vintage Patek Philippe timepieces from his own collection in tune of USD 8 million.
JC Biver: Jean-Claude Biver’s Own Watch Brand
Jean-Claude Biver recently had a prolonged hospital stay due to a bicycle accident. The creator of the Hublot Big Bang used this time to once again realise his true love for the art of watchmaking. After multiple decades spent working in leadership roles at huge brands, and then finally, in one of the world’s largest watch conglomerates (LVMH), Biver has finally decided start his own brand.
In an interview with the Radio Télévision Suisse, Biver mentioned that his passion has not gone even though his positions have. That’s how passion works, doesn’t it?
He went on to mention that he has established himself in the industry, has proved his mettle, and has added value to his name, pre-requisites of a good brand. He mentioned that he now needs to look for a staff and a solve his movement production needs. He even stated that he had plans to look for a potential office for the brand.
A New Chapter for the Luxury Watch Industry Legend
I strongly feel that all these issues will be sorted out without a hiccup. After all, he is only the man who revived the Swiss mechanical watchmaking industry. That’s all, nothing much. That being said, the brand he’ll be creating will stay in the family only as Biver wants to make it all about his and his family’s passion for the surreal art of watchmaking.
We for one, cannot wait for this chapter of the watchmaking legend to unfold. All the luck in the world to you Jean!
