With #RockyAurRaniKiiPremKahaani being B-town’s latest cinema sensation, starring Ranveer Singh scored some unmissable horlogerie hits during its promotion. As the face of Franck Muller, Rocky’s wrists have always been bejewelled with the brand’s poetic mechanical mastery and their unmistakable new-age paean of luxe watchmaking.
I like to think of Franck Muller as the Koenigsegg of the watch-verse – Young, audacious, and unafraid to explore new frontiers. Their unparalleled fervour for dexterity fused with disruptive design has earned them a reputation, unlike any other horlogerie artisan hailing from Geneva. This reputation, earned in 32 years into the business – that’s a mere fraction of the legacy of brands that’ve been around for hundreds of years. Off late, they’ve turned into a common title amongst the watch circles of India. And for their face of the Indian market, it was only fitting for it to be megastar, Ranveer Singh. Effervescent, high-octane, and vibrant, the actor has left an ineffaceable mark on the silver screen. With a track record of films like Padmaavat, Gully Boy, and 83, Singh has mastered the art of shapeshifting and immersing himself into the plethora of diverse characters he plays.
Recently, he took to social media to promote his new flick Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and our horology hawk-eyes zeroed in on his wrist and the Franck Muller novelties he wore. Here’s a list of them.
Franck Muller Vanguard – V 45 S6 SQT D (BC)

First up, is the Vanguard V 45 S6 SQT D (BC) – A scintillating piece of absolute ‘wrist-ice’ enriched with 307 brilliant-cut diamonds (each of 8.7 carats) all across its case. This decorates the 18K Rose Gold Vanguard case that measures 44 mm in width, 53.7 mm in length and a hefty 12.7 mm in thickness with a Sapphire crystal up top. Being hand-polished it boasts a water resistance of up to 30 meters. Its dial is skeletonized, putting its mechanical mastery on display and the numerical indexes are swapped out with that of a compass. 12 o’clock is North and six o’clock is South, with three o’clock being East and nine o’clock being West. Speaking of which, the movement powering this novelty is the MVT FM 1740-VS which is manually wound and boasts a power reserve of 7 days. Take a good look at the bare beauty of its dial – it’s 175 components and 21 jewels, and two barrels at work.
Upon close inspection, you’ll notice that the bridges are mirror polished. There’s also Chamfering on the mainplate, bridges and regulator assembly. The wheels, drubs and barrel covers are all satin brushed. All of this is strapped on in hand-sewn leather whose 18K rose gold buckle boasts 16 hand-set brilliant-cut diamonds (0.43 carats).
Franck Muller Racing Collection – V 45 SC DT RCG (ER)

Motorsport and watchmaking have been flirting on-and-off track right since the 1960s. Both embracing the art of micro-engineering and dexterity, we’ve witnessed plenty of cross-culture marvels and collaborations over the course of their love affair. The Franck Muller Racing Collection is another lovechild of this affair – bringing the best of both worlds. With a classic Vanguard case that measures 44 mm in width, 53.7 mm in length and 12.7 mm in thickness, it’s crafted out of Damascus steel with anti-magnetic properties. The dial too features a Damascus Steel make, bares Applique numerals meticulously painted and applied by hand. There’s a date window at six o’clock too. Inside, rests the MVT FM 25360-SCDT which is self-wound and features a bidirectional rotor system and a power reserve of 42 hours. With 191 components and 25 jewels on board, we see a balance wheel frequency set at 28,800 alternations per hour. All of this is strapped on in hand-sewn leather and a Damascus Steel buckle.
Franck Muller Vanguard – V 45 CC GDG SQT D

Next up, isn’t your typical Vanguard – Enriched with 274 brilliant-cut diamonds, its 18K Rose Gold case measures 44 mm in width and 15 mm in thickness. Take a good look at that dial, it needs some space to house all that mechanical mastery. The dial is skeletonized which puts the MVD FM 7002-V1GGDTC3 self-winding movement on display. It offers a power reserve of 46 hours. The action, however, is all happening at the dial. It features a date window at seven o’clock but isn’t shy of showing off its jumping numerical disks. We also see two chronometer sub-dials at three and six o’clock. Upon close inspection, you’ll see that the bridges boast Côtes de Genève handwork along with circular graining on the two sides of the main plate and barrel. Some of these components are bathed in 24K gold and are rhodium plated. This is strapped by hand-sewn leather which features an 18K Rose Gold buckle enriched with 16 brilliant-cut diamonds.
